Phase V



A team from the Scientific Exploration Society will explore and navigate Bolivia’s Rio Grande in specially constructed inflatable boats. The group will also study geological features and identify archaeological sites thought to exist along the river and its banks. Because of the difficulties of navigating the river no research into the area has been carried out to date. Community work and wildlife studies will also be conducted as the team journey down this river. A support team based in Vallegrande will provide back-up to the team on the river and carry out community work in the town. It is hoped that this vigorous and demanding expedition will reveal evidence of ancient civilisations.
