Craft

The five special inflatable craft have been designed by Eurocraft
Ltd, working with Ben Cartwright, one of Britain’s most
experienced river boatmen.
These include an inflatable recce, two man canoe and four
special self-bailing inflatables. Two of these inflatables
will be 14 feet long and will be able to accommodate four
crew members. The remaining two inflatables will be 16 feet
long in order to accommodate six people. The tube extends
around the craft making it both a powered boat for easier
conditions and a white water for rapids. Each of the inflatables
is equipped with a tried and tested Mariner outboard provided
by E.P Barrus Ltd. These are mounted internally and can be
raised when the craft is used in its white water mode.
The inflatables for Kota Mama V are named after JP Knight’s
shallow draft tugs which are working in Guyana and Suriname:
Kessock; Kestrel; Kinloch and Kite. The recce canoe will be
called Fearnought after the launch tug that tows water barges
on the River Medway.
