The Royal Engineers have now joined the advance team at the site of the lost city. They have discovered what appears to be a partly buried monolith. Although it is unclear what the monolith symbolizes, the team assumes that it could depict a god worshipped by the inhabitants of the city. The monolith could be useful for the archaeologists to date the site. The initial discoveries, however, indicate that the site could be a pre-Inca city.

Col. JBS will be arriving at the site on Saturday, accompanied by Bolivian archaeologists and Elizabeth Dix. We will be able to obtain expert opinions then.

Thankfully the rain gods are being benevolent and sending us some much needed rainfall. However, it is a mixed blessing as the tracks are now turning into skid-pans. We've got mules and human beings sliding all over the place.

At Lake Titicaca the reed boats are almost ready and we will start moving them to Guanay in approximately one week.
