Our fleet sailed out from Santarem at 6.30 a.m. on 20 August. We enjoyed great hospitality from the people of this town and were sorry to leave. We have a new support vessel "VIAGEIRO IV" which translates as "traveller". We however, have nicknamed her Viagra!

We are currently experiencing strong east winds, which makes our progress slow.

On August 19 the team visited Monte Allegra, to examine cave paintings believed to have been made over 12,000 years ago. These paintings were first made famous by Prof. Anne Roosevelt.
