3 August
Vencedor

Both the Kota Mama flagship and the Azevedo (support boat) are now at Vencedor, which is approximately 100 km down the river from Manicore and almost 370 km from the junction where the Rio Madeira meets the Amazon. KM3 is performing well and the water line is unchanged.

The weather is unbearably hot at 42°C. The heat is wearing down the crew on KM3, who have no respite from the sun's rays in their open boat. Steering the boat is hard work but we are getting through 10 to 11 km per hour.

The medical team is busy with the local people. We are also looking forward to starting our wildlife surveys tomorrow.
