Lost City

Work is continuing at the site on Rio Tulani and also on the "Fort" opposite Inca Pampa. The figures "1750" and a bell shaped symbol have been discovered carved in a wall of a chasm where a river joins a 120-foot waterfall known as the "Devils Cauldron". Bruce Mann used a rope and climbing harness to get a closer look at the carvings.

At the site of the city we have unearthed a complex system of pools and drains, surveyed a large house and studied various other structures. However, the team is still trying to locate artefacts in order to date the settlement. The Advanced Party at the "Fort" have found pottery, which they believe to be pre-Columbian and the whole team will be moving there on June 6.

The engineers are busy building a timber bridge across Rio Chinijo at Inca Pampa so that we could get back to base faster and also avoid the hazardous descent on Leopold's Spur.

The weather is cooler with some rain. There are fewer bugs around. The snakes though are still everywhere including deadly Fer De Lance and Coral snakes.
