Lake
Poopo
Lake Poopo, is located in the southern
and dry part of the Altiplano, and its shores are fast
disappearing. The area around is pure desert and beyond
the lake are virtually lifeless salt flats. The intense
sunlight, searing wind, blistering heat and bitter cold
do not encourage habitation - although hardy races once
lived and prospered here.
